When Marvel and DC comic entered the Movie industry for the first time, people did not really have high hopes for it. But today, Marvel and DC have a huge fanbase and make billions from movies. The movies are even more widely known than their comic book counter parts.
So here I am going to list the 5 greatest comic book movies of all time.
5. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
A sequel to “Captain America: The First Avenger”, this 2014 superhero film is the best of the Captain America trilogy. The plot revolves around Captain America who unfolds the conspiracy hidden inside the spy agency SHIELD along with Black Widow and an ex-soldier “Falcon”. He also uncovers some truths about his past and his relationship with the mysterious assassin known as the “ The Winter Soldier”. The movie is praised for its minimal use of CGI, providing to the users some old-school action and its intriguing suspense and in-depth character development. This is one movie you can watch again and again but can’t get bored.
4. THE AVENGERS
I don’t even have to say much about this one. The Avengers actually lived up to its hype and became the third highest-grossing film of all time. In the movie, Nick Fury brings together Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow which at the end of the movie, form the Avengers to stop Loki from taking over the Earth. The plot is amazing, the character development is amazing, the action and CGI is amazing, I have rewatched this one so many times that I can’t even count. Iron Man may be the movie that kick-started Marvel’s movie business, but this movie is the reason for their worldwide fame. The hype for this movie for so much that people couldn’t wait to watch this movie as soon as the trailer was released, and this is worldwide.
3. DEADPOOL
What do I say about Deadpool, released in 2016 it became the highest-grossing R rated film of the time. Ryan Reynolds plays Deadpool, so its obvious he is going to be very very cool. The story is about Wade Wilson hunting down the man who game him mutant abilities. Powers of Deadpool you ask, a powerful regeneration ability, enhanced strength, speed, and break the “Fourth wall”. The funniest movie on the list, Deadpool is funny, vulgar, smart, sexy, and outrageous. It is unpredictable, well balanced in all aspects, and will make you fall in love with the antihero. The character that started as a parody of DC’s Deathstroke is now one of the most well known and loved characters in the world.
JOKER (2019)
Now a lot of people might say joker isn’t a comic book movie, well it’s based on the comic book villain the “Joker” and I honestly love it. The movie gives an origin story to the greatest comic book villain of all time “ The Joker”. Arthur Fleck is a failed stand up comedian who struggles to live in the crime-filled, decaying city of Gotham. The movie explores his mental condition and emotions as he pushed to the edge and finally descends into insanity while leading a criminal revolution against the rich and the corrupt. The movie is dark, depressing, will make you uncomfortable but you will never be able to take your eyes off the screen. It is definitely not for the weakhearted and is the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. It is a must-watch and Joaquin Phoenix definitely deserves his best actor award for this movie.
THE DARK KNIGHT
Undoubtedly the best comic book movie of all time. This movie wasn’t just a movie, it was a revolution that changed how people thought about comic book movies. The first superhero to reach $1 billion and is praised for its writing, performances and direction. The plot is about Batman, Gordon, and Harvey trying to stop the organized crime in Gotham city while being played by the criminal mastermind “The Joker”. Though the Dark Knight is almost perfect in every way, the one thing that people can never ever forget is Heath Ledger’s portrayal of the Joker. It was the very definition of perfection and immortalized Heath Ledger in everyone’s heart. Heath Ledger swept over 20 acting awards and is praised even today. You can never ever get bored of this movie and cannot help but fall in love with the Joker.
