The power couple of the film and entertainment industry, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh has been continuously loved and followed by a large number of admirers who, besides loving their work and talents, love the couples onscreen chemistry and off-screen relationship. The decade long relationship of the couple was brought to limelight only when they tied the knot at a private ceremony in Lake Como of Italy in the last quarter of 2018. As the couple keep us amazed with their reel and real-life companionship and take up movies together, here’s a timeline of events that led up to the present.
2012: The first cute meet- Back in 2012 on Zee Cinema Awards at Macau, Deepika Padukone wore a stunning silver gown when Ranveer met her first. Cheers to Ranveer’s memory!
Sparks flew between them on the sets of Goliyon ki Rasleela… Ramleela when public interest in their relationship grew proportionately to their desperate attempts to keep their growing romance private. However, Ranveer spilled the beans with a throwback picture on Instagram on the 4th anniversary of Ramleela captioned “Don’t we look great together?”
2013: They’re married… Onscreen- In a small cameo role of Ranveer in Deepika’s film Finding Fanny, Deepika and Ranveer married for the big screen.
2014: Together on-stage and a secret engagement- On one hand the couple denied their relationship while on the other hand, they raised the temperatures with their dance medley for Zee Cine Awards 2014. That year itself they got engaged, secretly and it was revealed post their marriage in 2018.
2015: The PDA get more public- Subtlety is definitely not Ranveer’s cup of tea. This year we saw their innocent PDA at the IIFA Awards when Ranveer received Deepika on-stage with the song ‘Ram Chahe Leela’ as he went down on his knees. In the same year, they came together for an anniversary photoshoot for Vogue where their dubsmash video on best-friends went viral as they took a dig at being just friends.
2016: Parties and more PDA!- As Ranveer found it harder to take his gaze away from her at press conferences, this year finally saw Deepveer’s relationship go public as Deepika was escorted by Ranveer from Ambani’s bash before the paparazzi.
2017: Twinning goals!- This year was a landmark for Deepika as she made her Hollywood debut with xXx: Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel. At the Mumbai premiere, Ranveer played the dutiful partner and provided moral support from the sidelines. On the sets of Padmaavat, the couple was seen hanging out together and going for quick dinner dates! They also appeared twinning at Ambani’s Ganpati celebrations.
2018: The Bollywood wedding- Following another celebrity couple, Virat and Anushka, Deepika and Ranveer flew off to Italy for their wedding which wasn’t quite accepted or denied by them but simply hinted at by their frequent PDA photos on Instagram.
2019: First Anniversary- The couple visited the Tirupati Balaji Temple and Padmavati Temple and on the very next day they visited the Golden Temple at Amritsar to maintain traditions of both the families on their 1st wedding anniversary.
The loveable duo will be seen onscreen in 2020 with Kabir Khan’s ’83.
