FAITH With the coronavirus strengthening its hold as the days are passing, religious institutions are kept closed in almost every country across the globe. Meanwhile, the Islamic world is celebrating its biggest festival viz Eid-al-Fitr. But the nationwide lockdown imposed in every country has faded this celebration. With this lockdown being imposed, people are not able to celebrate this festivity FAITH in their own style.

Eid-al-Fitr is being celebrated on Sunday in most of the Islamic countries of the middle east including Saudi Arabia. However, in the wake of coronavirus, some of the Islamic countries including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Zordan, and Iraq have imposed a curfew on the day of Eid. In holy cities of Macca and Madina people will only be allowed to leave their homes to buy food and medicines.

The Imam of Madina asked people to offer prayers in their homes. FAITH The Dubai government’s media office in UAE reported the mosques being closed on Twitter and asked people to avoid visiting each other and sharing gifts.

Restriction imposed in Indonesia
Even in Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, people are not allowed to leave their homes and gather on this occasion. Indonesia had already announced a ban to return home from in Eid. President Joko Widodo said after a cabinet meeting that there will be no relaxation in the policy of social distancing. For your information, Indonesia is among the worst affected countries due to the pandemic.

Waiver with restrictions in Malaysia
Malaysia has provided some relaxation to citizens on this day. FAITH The govt. said that people can meet their close relatives. Some mosques have been allowed to open with conditions.No more than 30 persons are allowed to assemble in mosques. Visitors are required to wear masks.

No gathering in mosques in Iran
The government of Iran has banned gathering of mosques during Eid to offer congregational prayers. Let me tell you that Iran is one of those countries which showed a delay in imposing lockdown and hence were subject to FAITH condemnation around the world.

Curfew extended in Egypt
Authorities in Egypt have increased curfew timings. Now, curfew will start at 5 pm instead of 9 pm. This system will remain in force till May 29. Public FAITH places such as shopping complexes, beaches, parks will remain closed.
