Former Teammates Cheer On as Mahendra Singh Dhoni Retires (Unhurt)

The long-haired lad from Ranchi who can do it all” aka Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his retirement on 15th August 2020, putting an end to the question of his status in the national team. One of the most iconic and revered players to ever put on the blue jersey, ‘Captain Cool’ retired as the most successful Indian captain in limited-overs international cricket, having won three ICC trophies: the 2007 T20 World Cup, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Indian fans will always miss the feeling of security, even in India’s worse moments, of Mahendra Singh Dhoni coming to the crease and taking the reins; the reins of the match, the batting, the bowlers’ minds and the collective heartbeat of the entire country.

Your contribution to Indian cricket has been immense, @ms dhoni. Winning the 2011 World Cup together has been the best moment of my life. Wishing you and your family all the very best for your 2nd innings. pic.twitter.com/5lRYyPFXcp

Every cricketer has to end his journey one day, but still, when someone you’ve gotten to know so closely announces that decision, you feel the emotion much more. What you’ve done for the country will always remain in everyone’s heart…… pic.twitter.com/0CuwjwGiiS
