HOLLYWOOD ACTORS WHO MOVED TO DIGITAL PLATFORMS

1.Robert De Niro and Al Pacino – (The Irishman)

Martin Scorsese needs no introduction as his work does all the talking. His last release ‘The Irishman’ which starred Hollywood stalwarts like Robert De Niro and Al Pacino focussed on conveying the story of a War veteran and his run as a hitman for a crime organisation but with a pinch of Scorsese’s ingredients. Despite its extended runtime debate and the modern de-ageing technology, Scorsese managed to create yet another cinematic adventure, adding another to his list of crime dramas with De Niro on his side this time. ‘The Irishman’ which released digitally last year was nominated for several prestigious awards at the 92nd Academy Awards as well as the 77th Golden Globe Awards.

2.Chris Hemsworth – (Extraction)

Chris Hemsworth, who is popular for portraying the character of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe recently made his debut on a known digital platform with his film ‘Extraction’. The action thriller showcased Hemsworth as a ruthless mercenary, whose mission to save a drug lord’s son turns into a game of survival and left the audience wanting for more. Despite being criticized for a few weak points in the plot, the film was showered with praises from all quarters which has made way for a possible sequel.

3.Scarlett Johansson

Popular Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson made her debut on the digital platform last year with ‘Marriage Story’ which was nominated for several categories at the 92nd Academy Awards. The Noah Baumbach directorial which was focussed heavily on the divorce between a couple managed to give us all a glimpse of the intricate details of a relationship in this emotional roller-coaster ride.

4.Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston – (Murder Mystery)

Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, who have been friends even before their acting careers started, team up for comedy-thriller ‘Murder Mystery’. With Sandler’s perfect comic timings and Aniston’s on-screen brilliance, the duo managed to impress the audience with their uncanny chemistry. The duo, who played a couple in this total entertainer left everyone speechless with their enigmatic performances.

5.Sandra Bullock – (Bird Box)

Filmmaker Susanne Bier managed to bring ‘The Proposal’ actress Sandra Bullock on-board for her post-apocalyptic thriller ‘Bird Box’. Despite a mixed response from the critics, the audience ended up appreciating Bullock’s challenging performance in this supernatural flick. She not only took the call of experimenting by trying out the digital platform but also gave a stunning performance in this film which turned out to be one of the most challenging roles she has ever essayed in her career.

6.Emma Stone – (Maniac)

Emmy Award winner Cary Joji Fukunaga, who has helmed James Bond’s upcoming film ‘No Time to Die’ managed to bring Emma Stone, Jonah Hill and Justin Theroux on-board for his web series ‘Maniac’. The psychological drama was showered with accolades for its intriguing plot revolved around the lives of two struggling strangers and how they connect during a trial which also involves a doctor, who has his issues. The ‘La La Land’ star was also nominated for several awards for her outstanding performance in this mysterious drama.

7.Renee Zellweger – (What_If)

Academy Award-winning actress Renee Zellweger, who has featured in several films and television shows too decided to take up the challenge in her career and move to the digital platform with Mike Kelley’s thriller series ‘What/If’. Despite her enigmatic performance as a ruthless corporate leader, the anthology thriller drama failed to strike a chord with the audience due to a weak narrative and a weak plot which had the background of a medical startup.

8.Drew Barrymore – (Santa Clarita Diet)

Drew Barrymore started her career as a child actor and has gone on to entertain the audience on almost all possible entertainment platforms. From television to the big silver screen, Barrymore has managed to impress all with her brilliant performances. The ‘Charlie’s Angels’ actress plays a good zombie (one of a kind) in a popular horror-comedy series ‘Santa Clarita Diet’ and fans have been loving her.
