⦁ Rachna Arya has accused BRUTALITY the police of scourging her father.
⦁ The victim has been identified as fifty-six years old, Harish Chand.
⦁ He has been identified as an ex-army officer.

BRUTALITY According to various news reports, Harish Chand’s son had gone to buy sugar on the morning of 24th May at around 6 A.M., when the policemen were hit him with a stick. Following the incident, Harish Chand went to have a talk with the police on the incident but got in an ‘argument’ with the police. This incident is reported to be of the Naulakha locality where Harish’s domicile is located. BRUTALITY This area is under the limits of Sadar police station.
BRUTALITY Harish Chand’s daughter, Rachna Arya in a conversation with Times of India was quoted stating: “My father was badly beaten up by four policemen, including sub-inspector Aman Kumar and constable Arun Verma. I found him bleeding and lying on the road. He received multiple injuries and is in deep mental stress. I complained to the station house officer, but he didn’t take any action”.
Following the incident, Kamlesh Kumar, station BRUTALITY officer whom Rachna has accused of inaction stated in his defense, “The allegations of Harish and his family members are incorrect. He misbehaved and used force against a policeman on duty. A case has been registered against him for violating the lockdown and voluntarily hurting a policeman.”
While it couldn’t which of either side are correct but such incidents raise questions on BRUTALITY the power of police officers in case of special situations. It should also be determined whether policemen should resort to using force only in case of self-defense or it should be used as a preventive measure.
Bir Bahadur Singh, President of ex-servicemen society in a response to the entire incident stated, “It is very upsetting that an ex-serviceman was mercilessly thrashed like a criminal. Senior officials should take cognizance of the BRUTALITY matter and ensure suitable action so that such an incident does not happen again.”
An BRUTALITY independent investigation should be conducted about the entire incident and the real victims should be brought to justice.
