Irfan Pathan Has Selected His Farewell XI Players

Irfan Pathan has selected 11 members from the retired lot of Indian Cricket Team as Farewell XI.

In between the dialogues about the farewell match for MS Dhoni, Irfan Pathan has come up with the new idea. Irfan Pathan has suggested a “charity -cum-farewell game”. The game will be between the team comprising retired Indian cricketers. The players who have not got a proper farewell and Indian Cricket Team led by Virat Kohli.

Pathan has announced his retirement from Indian cricket earlier this year. This was followed by various biggest match-winners who have never received a proper farewell from the Indian cricket team. Irfan Pathan has the following names for his Farewell XI. Gautam Gambhir who retired in 2018, Virender Sehwag, retired in 2014, VVS Laxman, got retired in 2012, Rahul Dravid (2012) are in the list. The list continues and comprises Agarkar (retired in 2007, Yuvraj Singh, in 2019, Dhoni, Pathan, and Suresh Raina ( retire in 2020).

Irfan Pathan has tweeted, “Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn’t get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team?”

Yuvraj Singh About The Great Retired Match-Winners

Yuvraj Singh believes that BCCI has not managed his teammates like Harbhajan, Sehwag and Zaheer were at the end of their careers. He hopes that the board will be recognizing the efforts of these match-winners in the forthcoming time.

Yuvraj retired from International cricket in 2019 after playing for 19 years. He did not receive a farewell game. He feels it was unprofessional of BCCI to not have treated him and his teammates well towards the end of their careers.

Yuvraj believes that BCCI will be paying appreciation to some of the greatest of the game.

He said, “Giving someone a farewell, that’s not for me to decide. It’s up to the BCCI. But in the future, anybody who has played for India for a long time and has been through tough situations, you should definitely honour him. Give him that respect, somebody like Gautam Gambhir, who has won two World Cups for us. Sehwag, who has been the biggest match-winner after Sunil Gavaskar in Tests. Zaheer, who has 350 wickets, Laxman… and all these guys.”
