Indian Security forces add another gem to its success crown on Wednesday with gunning down of JeM chief, Masood Azhar’s kin Abdul Rehman, aka ‘Fauji Bhai’ along with two other terrorists in Pulwama district of Kashmir. A gunfight was triggered between the security forces and the terrorists on Wednesday morning when the forces launched a search operation in the Kangan area of Pulwama district in Kashmir and the terrorists open fire on the police forces.
“Out of the three terrorists of Jaish-e- Mohammed (JEM) which were neutralized today, one has been identified as Abdul Rehman alias Fauji Bhai, an IED expert. He belongs to Multan, Pakistan, and was active in South Kashmir since 2017. The other two are being identified,” said Vijay Kumar, IGP Kashmir. Rehman’s real name is Ikram and he is the mastermind behind the IED attacks of Pulwama that took lives of 40 CRPF Jawans in February, last year. He has been active in South Kashmir from 2017 and he was involved in attacks against allied forces in Afghanistan earlier.
He also behind the major vehicle-borne IED attack that the security forces averted on 28th May. On getting information about the explosives from a credible source, the forces foiled the mission but ‘Fauji Bhai’ himself escaped. IGP Kumar said, “We had promised you that day we will get him soon. Today we did. Whether he was involved in the 2019 car bombing attack on CRPF convoy, I cannot say for sure but he was active in Pulwama at that time.”
Tral, Rajpora and Khrew regions of Pulwama has bases of this group who specialize in major IED attacks and M4 sniper shots. Rehman was reported to use an AK rifle fitted with UBGL. He was active in the Chandoora area of Budgam and Chewa Kalan and Rajpora areas of Pulwama along Rumshi Naala. This group collaborated with local terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) to spread terror and organize IED attacks. Their aim is to consolidate Kashmir with Pakistan.
The other two killed in the encounter are yet to be recognized. The ‘potential parents’ of the dead are called upon to recognize them and take part in their funeral in Baramulla. Although, their autopsy and DNA collection is underway in case they are not recognized. Congratulating the successes of the security forces of India, Vijay Kumar said, “ We have had major successes this year as we have eliminated the top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Reyaz Naikoo and poster Junaid Sehrai, Lashkar chief Haider in Handwara and now Fauji Baba.” Indian Security forces deserve all respect and gratitude for their bravery and once again they have gained our appreciation by their incredible success.
