There are two types of fans in the world- first, just fans who like something and second, who like Mirzapur… These lines from the trailer announcement of Mirzapur 2 were “An Ode To Fandom” by Amazon Prime Videos and rightly so. Mirzapur had received unprecedented love and admiration from web series audience and the “Mirzapur fans” are thrilled at the announcement of its long-awaited sequel. One of the questions that kept popping social media time and again int eh lockdown is that when will the season 2 of Mirzapur be released? This thriller series is an Amazon Prime original and the Season 2 of Mirzapur is starring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Shweta Tripathi and Rashika Dugal among others.
As per the announcement made by Amazon Prime Videos on Monday and to the excitement of the fans, the season 2 of Mirzapur is going to be released on Amazon Prime Videos on October 23, 2020. The makers have revealed the release date along with a subtle hint that Mirzapur 2 is going to be bigger and better.
At the end of the previous season, we saw the life of Guddu (Ali Fazal) destroyed by Munna (Divyendu Sharma) as he killed Guddu’s brother Bablu (Vikrant Massey) and his wife Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar). In the teaser of Mirzapur 2, we can hear Guddu saying that there are two types of people in the world- the living and the dead. But Guddu falls in the third category of the people- the injured. This teaser has set the platform for the new season to follow Guddu’s thirst to avenge the death of his close family.
Mirzapur 2 is produced by Excel Media and Entertainment and is directed by Mihir Desai and Gurmeet Singh. In this season, the viewers will witness Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Amit Sial, Harshita Gaur, Anjum Sharma, Manu Rishi Chadha, Sheeba Chadha and Rajesh Tailang reprise their roles from the first season. The cast of season 2 will also be joined by Isha Talwar, Vijay Varma and Priyanshu Painyuli.
Ritesh Sidhwani of the Excel Media and Entertainment while speaking about the season 2 of Mirzapur said, “Bringing thrilling and untold stories from India’s hinterland without losing authenticity has been our biggest win.
