Movie buff is a wide representation. Even if you are a film buff you may not necessarily love all genres. And during lockdown, movie binging is the most common source of entertainment. If selecting movies is too tough for you, here is the list of movie you could watch in Netflix, Disney+Hotstar or Amazon Prime if you’re a sucker for action movies!
Wanted- Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, this action thriller is a story of assassination, revenge and lots of action to satisfy your action cravings. The cast of the movie stands out with stars from James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman to Angelina Jolie.
John Wick and its sequels- One of the masterpieces in Keanu Reeves’ career is the John Wick series. From the emotional acting of Reeves to the perfect action sequences, this movie is Titanic for action buffs. Directed Chad Stahelski, this movie was first released in 2014 followed by two sequels in 2017 and 2019 respectively. There is also the promise of the fourth part by Stahelski which will probably release in 2021. If you have a boring Sunday ahead, this is your jam.
Naam Shabana– If you are a Bollywood lover, we have you covered too. Naam Shabana is a 2017 Hindi film which is the prequel to another blockbuster action film, Baby. Directed by Shivan Nair and Neeraj Pandey, this movie stars Tapsee Pannu and Akshay Kumar as lead with other important characters played by Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpai. Tapsee as a secret agent is something everyone will enjoy and she has done a very good job of ensuring its excellence too!
Extraction- While the world was sunk in depressed hopelessness, Extraction provided everyone with a newfound purpose. Starring Chris Hemsworth and Indian actor Randeep Hooda, this film may not be perfection in action genre but is quite entertaining. The film is about the life of a black market assassin who goes to Bangladesh to rescue the son of an important underworld lord.
Mission Impossible- This movie series, like just John Wick, is one of the best works of Tom Cruise who plays the part of Ethan Hunt. The film was released in 1996 and has 8 movies in total. This series is perfect for the action movie marathon.
Baby – Going back to Bollywood, this is the sequel of the movie Naam Shabana. Starring Akshay Kumar, this film promotes anti-terrorism and is definitely a must-watch. This movie was released in 2015 and even after five years, it is one of the most-watched action movies in India.
Kill Bill- One of classical series by Quentin Tarantino. If you have not seen this movie, are you even an action buff? If you have not, watch it! And if you have, there is no bad time for watching Uma Thurman beating up goons, is there? This movie on martial arts was released in 2003 and again in 2004, its sequel came out which scored 84% in Rotten Tomatoes.
War- Starring Hrithik Roshan, this 2019 action movie is directed by Siddharth Anand. This film, true to its kind is also about terrorists that escaped and Kabir, a secret agent.
