SRIKANT DATAR NAMED DEAN OF HAVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL

Srikant Datar will become the Havard Business School’s Dean from next year which was announced by the president Larry bacon and he will begin the service on January 1.

According to Bacon, while announcing the appointment said that ” Srikant is an innovative education a distinguished scholar and a well-experienced leader in academics and a leading thinker about the future of business education and has played an essential role in Harvard business school (HBS) 

Srikant said that” I am equal measure humbled and honoured to take this role, adding – that (HBS) Havard Business School is an institution with a  remarkable legacy of impact in research education and practice and I look forward to working with colleagues and friends of the school.

Srikant will become the 11th dean in the business school’s 112-year history and he will succeed Nitin Nohria, who announced his plan to conclude deanship at the end of June 2020 but he agreed to continue through December because of a COVID-19 pandemic.

Nohria said that ” Srikant is an outstanding choice as Havard business school’s next dean,” and he has deeply thought about the opportunities and challenges while facing management in education.

Mr Srikant Datar alumni of the University of Bombay and Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad is the Arthur Lowes Dickinson professor of business administration and the senior associate dean for University of affairs at( HBS ) Harvard business school.

Talking about the career of Mr Srikant Datar in 1973 he has done his bachelor from University of Bombay. He went for business management and did from IIM Ahmedabad ( Indian institute of management) for his post-graduate diploma course and PhD in business from Stanford University.

Srikant was an assistant professor and later associate professor at Mellon graduate school of industrial administration from 1984 to 1989 and was awarded George Leland Bach Teaching Award.

Srikant has presented his research to audiences of academics and executives in North America and South America, Asia and Europe and led his discussion and workshop on management and also serves on the governing body of IIM Calcutta.

Srikant is also a co-author of several books and played a key role in launching both the M.S.-M.B.A. in biotechnology and life sciences (with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Harvard Medical School) and the M.S.-M.B.A. in engineering sciences (with the Harvard Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) joint degree programs.

Mr Datar currently serves on the boards of companies such as Novartis and  T – mobile US.
