Rejecting the AFGHANISTAN Taliban’s claim of India playing a negative role in Afghanistan’s developmental policies, the Afghan government stated that India is one among the donors of the war-torn country’s reconstruction efforts and New Delhi has been supportive of the peace process. The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the claim of India’s negative role for the past 40 years and said that India-Afghan relations are based on mutual respect and within the international framework.
Hewad spoke to Radio Azadi in which he said that India AFGHANISTAN has cooperated in reconstruction and developmental sectors and is expected to contribute to peace as well.
The Deputy of Qatar-based Taliban political office, Mula Abas Stanekzai recently stated an allegation that during the last couple of decades, India has cooperated only with corrupt nations and those that have been put in power AFGHANISTAN only by foreign countries and not Afghanistan.
Afghan political analyst Khalid Sadaat told Radio Azadi that the Taliban’s statements and such remarks might hurt Afghanistan’s diplomatic ties. “Taliban should not give themselves this liberty to make the country and state-level remarks, as it will have negative consequences for Afghanistan in the future,” Saddat spoke of his belief that the assertions made by the Taliban are on the demand of Pakistan as Taliban has been accused of playing Pakistan’s proxy several times.
On Monday, issues of mutual interest in both Afghanistan and India were discussed over a video conference. On Sunday, AFGHANISTAN India welcomed the power-sharing deal between Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his rival Abdullah Abdullah after a long-time dispute over last year’s presidential elections.
India’s assistance to Afghanistan is prominent in the construction of the AIFD, development of the Chabahar Port in Iran AFGHANISTAN (undertaken by India and Iran) to enhance land-sea connectivity with Afghanistan and the construction of the 218 km road by India from Zaranj to Delaram.
