Veteran actor Irfan Khan breathed his last at the age of 53 at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on April,29. From the last two years, he was suffering from a neuroendocrine tumour which finally led to his death. During these years of his struggle against this lethal disease, his wife Sutapa was his constant support system. In an interview to a leading tabloid, Irfan has said about her that,” she is there 24/7 and she has evolved in care-giving and if I get to live, I want to live for her. She is the reason for me to keep at it still.”
Like Irfan’s professional life, his personal life is interesting too.
He met Sutapa as a classmate in National School Of Drama (NSD), Mumbai. They became good friends and later fell in love and tied the knot on 23 February 1995, completing 25 years of marriage this year. Sutapa was his pillar of strength all through these years. She was there for him through thick and thin. Though she accompanied him in events, she preferred staying away from the limelight. Sutapa herself is a dialogue writer and screenplay writer. She has written dialogues for movies like Shabd, Khamoshi, Kahaani, Supari. Later she debuted as a producer in the film ‘Madari'(2016), starring Irfan Khan in the lead role. She has also produced Bollywood film Qarib Qarib Singlle in 2017.
Back in 2018 when Irfan was diagnosed with cancer, she has called Irfan a warrior in social media. She was his partner in a true sense.
God give his family, friends and fans strength to recover from this untimely loss.
