Vinay Tiwari, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer investigating the death probe of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput is allegedly quarantined by force as per the statement of the Director-General of Police (DGP) of Bihar, Gupteshwar Pandey. Vinay Tiwari was heading a team of investigators from Patna who reached Mumbai to investigate the FIR made by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh. In his FIR, Sushant’s father brought “abetment to suicide” charges against Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her family members.

Via his verified Twitter account, IPS Gupteshwar Pandey tweeted saying that IPS Vinay Tiwari reached Mumbai on the official duty of lead the team of investigators but was “forcibly quarantined” by the people of BMC at 11 am of the same day. In spite of requesting, he was not provided accommodation in the IPS Mess and was staying at a guest house of Goregaon.

According to news agency ANI, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has quarantined IPS Tiwari according to the present guidelines of arriving at the Mumbai Airport via domestic travel.

On June 14, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his rented apartment at Bandra, Mumbai. The Mumbai Police who was in charge of the case had stated that Sushant had committed suicide by hanging. After several debates about depression and Nepotism in Bollywood, Sushant’s father KK Singh lodged a police complaint at Patna Police station against the late actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and some of her family members under a number of sections of the IPC, one of which includes abetment to suicide.

Sushant’s father alleged that Rhea and her family members kept Sushant away from his family, handled his bank accounts and took away crores of his rupees. In the FIR, KK Singh also mentioned that Rhea left his apartment with cash, jewellery and Sushant’s medical reports when she found his account balance to be depleting. She also allegedly blocked his phone number. According to KK Singh, Sushant called up and informed his sister that Rhea had threatened him of showing his medical receipts to the media and proving him insane. These allegations were very taken up by news media and they were quick to turn a tragic death into a media circus by bringing bizarre allegations against Rhea and crossing all limits of decency and privacy while broadcasting anything about Sushant.

The Mumbai Police, who were probing into the case, had recorded the statements of nearly 40 people including Sushant’s family members, his cook, his friends and people from the film industry that is filmmakers like Aditya Chopra and Mahesh Bhatt, film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and film critic Rajeev Masand. They have also recorded the statements of Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant’s ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande.

Reportedly, the Mumbai Police weren’t helping the investigators from Patna and IPS Pandey had previously stated that Sushant’s death probe shouldn’t turn into a war between Maharashtra and Bihar keeping in mind the sentiments of the people. He had also urged Rhea Chakraborty to help in the investigation if she has nothing to hide and aid the Patna police.
