According to the company this has been done to achieve the environmental goals set by the company. It is believed that Apple wants to become 100% carbon neutral by 2030. The Cupertino firm said that by removing the charger and the Earpods from the iPhone 12 box, this helps them reducing the packaging by 70% and this will also allow the company to ship more devices at a time. The company claimed that it will help those reducing shipping-related emissions.
In a recent interview with Good morning America, Apple’s VP of iPhone provided a detailed explanation about their decision. They said that most of their users already have an iPhone charger and Earpods, some even have multiple ones from their previous iPhones. Therefore, it was not considered as the right thing to do in terms of the larger environmental goals, Kaiann Drance, VP iPhone marketing told the publication.
